An alumna from the Class of 2006, Mrs. Cain serves as an Assistant Principal and Math Teacher.
What is your educational background?
EC: After graduating from 足球买球APP in 2006, I studied middle childhood education with a focus in math and science at Miami University in Oxford, OH. I received my master's in educational leadership from DePaul University in 2014.

What did you do prior to becoming a teacher at 足球买球APP?
EC: I taught 6th-8th grade science and 8th grade Algebra at Immaculate Conception St. Joseph in the Old Town neighborhood of Chicago. I felt very much at home my first year of teaching, as there were five other alums spanning 2000-06 and the principal was former 足球买球APP Assistant Principal and teacher, Maria Hill.
What are you currently reading for enjoyment?
EC: While I have not been reading for enjoyment as much as I would like to these days, I just started Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American 赛事分析中心 Textbook Got Wrong by James W. Loewen.

What interests do you pursue outside of the classroom?
EC: I have always enjoyed cooking, but my husband and I really honed our skills during quarantine. Pre-COVID I loved spending time with family and friends -- something I miss very much and have tried to find creative ways to still do. Zoom Yahtzee and Trivia are a couple of my go-to's. In the summer, I play in a 16-inch softball league with friends.

To what teams and/or clubs did you belong as a student?
EC: I played varsity softball for four years and volleyball my freshman and sophomore year. I was a member of Video Yearbook, founding member of the Latin Club, and NHS secretary. Lastly, I was a leader and rector at Kairos … Live the Fourth!

Which clubs/sports/activities do you run at 足球买球APP?
EC: I do not currently run any sports, clubs or activities at 足球买球APP. However, I have coached JV and varsity softball off and on over the last decade.

What quality/characteristic marks a 足球买球APP student?
EC: I think 足球买球APP students are INVOLVED. Whether inside 足球买球 walls through sports or clubs or outside 足球买球APP within their own community, 足球买球APP students find ways to immerse themselves in their surroundings.

When did you decide to become a teacher, and why did you choose this field?
EC: My love for the school environment manifested itself early as I was one of those kids who played "teacher" in the basement growing up. However, it was my junior year service project at 足球买球APP that really solidified it for me. I returned to my former grammar school, St. Luke, to help students with homework after school. What also inspired me to choose education was having amazing teachers such as Mr. Farran. He made learning personal and applicable. You also couldn't miss him in the front row of every sporting event or activity cheering his students on and getting to know them outside of the classroom.

What personal strengths do you find especially helpful in your teaching?
EC: I think most people would agree that I am very organized, which is helpful in planning and keeping students (and myself) on task.

What are your favorite classes to teach?
EC: CP Algebra I! Although I am biased, as that is the only class I teach currently.
